This afternoon while I was catching up with my Netflix’s, there was a quick knock on the door. I was confused because, well, I haven’t been expecting anything in the mail.

Well, lo and behold I opened the door and there were two boxes sitting there. One glance at the return address label to confirm my thoughts, and viola, our invitations had just arrived!!

At the end of November I received the invitations proofs via email from the designer, and she had said she would email me a tracking number through UPS after they got shipped out. Yea, never got the tracking number, or an email saying they were even shipped.

10 days later…I have them now sitting in my living room!!

Invitations, RSVP cards, enclosure info cards, info holders, thank you’s, and envelopes galore!!

Now of course I don’t plan on even sending them out anytime soon, in fact, I really have no idea when I should actually send them out. I want responses back no later than May 6, which is probably earlier than you’re supposed to want them back for wedding that’s happening 3 weeks later (or maybe not, I don’t know)…BUT, I figure we’ll probably going to have to call people and follow up in case we don’t get their rsvp’s back in the mail.

Ooh happy day, one more thing I can cross off our list!

Now I just need to put them all together…

Our invitations are ordered! No wait, our invitations, reception cards, rsvp cards, AND thank you cards are all ordered!

When we ordered our save the dates, we received a 20% off coupon to use on our next purchase. Well, last week I received an email from MagnetStreet and they upped the ante to 25% off through November 29th. I just couldn’t let that slip through my fingers. We saved some serious $$$.

Now everything is in production mode, I wanted some special things to be done to our invitation, mainly I wanted an umlaut over the “e” in Zoe. So before they actually make the invitations, they have to make up a proof and email it to me so I can sign off on it, but I’m hoping to receive all our invitation stuff sometime before Christmas!

It’s still six months out, so technically I don’t think the invitations have to be in the mail until March or so, but it’ll definitely give me time to make up all 120ish invitations and address them all.

Oh, the dreaded questions when it comes to finalizing invitation wording. I plan on ordering all our invitations before the end of the year, even though they won’t be sent out till March (or something like that).

I have stumbled upon a couple of websites that go through how you should address formal and informal invitations, if the bride’s parents are hosting versus the groom’s parents, and practically everything in between.

The first one goes through on how to address the actual invitation, response cards, and addressing the envelopes.

The second site talks directly about how to address envelopes correctly, though it slightly confused me with all the different forms out there. I’ve pretty much decided how I am going to be addressing the envelopes, even if it’s not the “formal” way to do things.

The third site is taken directly from where we ordered our save the dates and also where our invitations will be ordered. This wording guide goes through everything! Because of Magnet Street’s personalization ability for it’s customers, they provide a wide variety of different wordings for everything depending on what the wedding or couple wants.

My tongue is losing feeling with licking all these envelopes.

38 down…57 left to go.

Our return address labels just arrived, and over the weekend I bought 140 stamps…I think the postal worker thought that I was a bit crazy for wanting that many.

Well the joy of beginning to start putting together the save the dates, writing out the addresses, and getting them into the mail has officially begun!

Oh and ps, Magnet Street has yet again pulled through with their wonderful work. I can’t wait until we order our invitations and receive those next!

UPS came yesterday and dropped off our save the dates! I opened up the brown box and inside was this beautiful blue box that had our 125 save the date mini magnets along with mini white envelopes with a silver inner envelope lining. They turned out beautifully!!

Next step is to take one over to the post office to figure out how much postage each will take, and also I’m curious to see if there is a proper way on mailing something that is a magnet.

And then the daunting task of hand addressing over 100 envelopes…I see lots of movie watching in my future.

While sitting on my break at work, reading “Eat, Pray, Love” on my nook, it dawned on me that I didn’t want to hand write BOTH the sending address and the mailing address. Growing up, if I was sending a letter out to someone, I would go dig around in our junk drawer for my return address labels.

IDEA! I called my mom and talked to her about it, and she told me to find return address labels that would match our save the dates and invitations and put their (my parents) address on them. As customary the return address should be to the ones who are paying, which in our case is mostly my parents.

I hopped on Magnet Street’s website and found large return labels that would match the invitations, designed and changed the address, and ordered!

Here’s what they’ll look like…minus the fake address…

Yesterday I received my UPS tracking number for our save the dates, and they should be here on Monday!!

All I keep thinking about is once they get here, I’m going to have to hand write over 100+ and go buy stamps for all of them…oh well, it’ll be worth it in the end!

Last night while I was talking to my mom via skype, she let me know that she was talking to one of her friends who asked her when the wedding date was. My mom told her that it was the friday of Memorial Day weekend. The friend, shocked that it was on a holiday weekend, thanked my mom in letting her know this early so she wouldn’t make plans to go out of town.

Well, I knew it might be a slight issue that our wedding is a friday, let alone on a holiday weekend. But after hearing that even eight months out family friends are planning, I went ahead and ordered our save the dates.

I was planning on ordering them along with our invitations after we completed our tasting, and then not sending them out till around Christmas, but that’s all changed.

We ordered our save the dates through Magnet Street, an online vendor that you are able to customize pretty much anything. You are able to change the colors, the fonts, the sizes, etc. The save the dates that we ended up choosing is a mini-magnet, so hopefully even though we are sending them out earlier than anticipated, people will just put it on their refrigerator and won’t lose it.

And here’s the proof:

I’ve been on the hunt for save the dates and invitations ever since we got engaged, I even attempted the DIY route, but with my spastic work schedule, no access to a printer, and my nonexistent creative talent, the whole do-it-yourself quickly died.

Through many, many searches online I have stumbled upon numerous websites, and found things that I love, but are ridiculously expensive. (50 invites for $350, no thank you).

Yesterday I got a sample packet of invitations from magnetstreet, and I started my usual scouring through their website to see exactly what they had and their price listings. Because our colors are green and white, I definitely want stationary to reflect our colors, and I would love to have everything (save the dates, invitations, response cards, accommodation information) all printed to be cohesive.

I stumbled upon the above design “apple blossoms” and immediately fell in love with it. It’s got green to it, even though it’s not the right shade that I want for our wedding, but I love the simple floral design. The matching invitations are below:

Now one nice thing about magnetstreet, is that you are able to customize the wording, the fonts, and the colors, so technically I could change the odd green color to a better green shade, to make it more springy.

I don’t know whether or not those will be our final choices, and I know we still have time before I HAVE to send out our save the dates…which I honestly don’t know when that has to be.
