I just received an email with a link to our online gallery! They look amazing, and Heather did such a fantastic job with them! Here are a couple of my favorites:

And the following picture pretty much sums us up…

…one trying to be serious, while the other is making goofy faces.

I swear there is a handful of our pictures that have him making some random hilarious face, but I love it!

This past Wednesday we had our engagement pictures done by the wonderful Heather Saunders. We drove out to Royal Oak to her little business studio to finally meet her. After months of back and forth emailing and talking on the phone, it was so great to meet her in person!

We ended up driving over to this little park area right near her studio and took a ton of pictures, walked around a bit and took more in random little areas.

It wasn’t as awkward as I thought it was going to be – and for that I’m grateful for. There were a few moments where she would instruct us where to look and what to do with our bodies, but other than that it was natural.

I have no idea how many pictures she ended up taking, but she said we should be able to look at the proofs sometime before Christmas. She’s slammed right now trying to get gallery sets done for her past couple of weddings. No rush – we have 7 months before the wedding.

We are booked with the fabulous Heather Saunders to finally have our engagement pictures taken during the first week of November. We’re bouncing between having a nature or architecture implemented into our portrait session, and Heather said she’d think about some places that have a bit of both. Hopefully during that time the weather cooperates with us!

The two of us are definitely not camera lovers, so it’ll be interesting to see how this goes. I see it as a test run on how to be prepared for our wedding day.

Oh, and I’m a HUGE eye blinker when it comes to flashes…it’ll make it interesting…

It’s official! We booked Heather Saunders to be our photographer for our big day.

We signed the agreement, wrote out the deposit and I will be slipping it into the mail today.

So freaking excited!!

The ever continuous photographer search has continued forth. We decided we aren’t going to deal any more with GauperPhoto, and have turned our eyes upon Ms. Heather Saunders. From her return voicemail, which was hilarious listening to, to our emails back and forth, she seems like an amazing down to earth woman who has amazing style.

When she contacted me back, she told me that she was pretty much booked up in May, but had a few weekends/days that she was available. I was worried that our date was already a no-go and my search would have to continue on, but I emailed her our date, and came back saying that worked for her!

I quickly emailed her back for package listings and asked if there was any way to hold our date till the next time we spoke, basically until I’m able to put down a deposit…still waiting to hear back a response from her.

Fingers crossed!

In previous posts I talked about how the fiance and I really wanted GauperPhoto to be our photographer, and well, we still do in a way. But the past week communication with them hasn’t been the best (they are in the midst of moving across the country), but also because they are waiting to hear back from another couple that says they want them, but have yet to put down a deposit.

If the other couple finally come back and put down a deposit, for the same weekend we are getting married, then we are out a photographer. I’ve already begun my search for others.

I’ve stumbled upon a few that I like; to name a few: Jessica Johnston, Heather Saunders, and Jen Lynne. They vary in prices between $3550 – 4500. (Gauper, much to our surprise instead of being $2900 as it said on the website, actually starts at $4100…which honestly I don’t know if we have that in our budget).

Out of the few I just mentioned, I’ve found myself constantly being pulled back to Heather Saunders website. I love the fun twist on her modern pictures, and although they aren’t as funky and fun in Gauper’s way of things, she still has her own style and way of seeing things through a lens.

In my mind this is the last major thing that I really need to lock in soon, and hopefully things work themselves out.

I feel like I haven’t been able to do much in planning our wedding because things have been revolving around selling the house and moving. I’ve wanted to get the photographer and DJ researched and booked soon just because I know how fast things get booked up well in advance. (Note: I haven’t booked anything yet…oops?)

Photographer: GAUPERphoto. One of my friends used them for their wedding last year and absolutely loved them. I checked out their website when their proofs came in and just absolutely loved their style and the way the photos just popped. They have professionalism to them, but are fun and creative, and you won’t see the same thing over and over again.

DJ Services: Mike Staff Productions. It seems like they are the people to have and probably the most well known throughout the Detroit area. I know of at least a few couples who used them for their wedding and loved how the contract and their DJ that they picked. The company sits you down and lets you watch the profiles of the DJ’s that are picked out depending on what you’re looking for. One of the things that I love is that in case your DJ has some kind of emergency, the company sends out a back up one no matter what.

Photo booth: Shutterbooth. Ever since my uncle had a photo booth at one of his birthday celebrations, I’ve loved the idea in capturing people’s crazy personalities in a unique way. I did some searching and came across two different photo booth companies, both of which offer some great package pricing. One of the things that I definitely want is the option for a scrapbook. For each strip of photos that comes out for the guests, a duplicate one comes out that the worker takes and puts it into a scrapbook, thus becoming your little guestbook!
